Principal Riser EngineerThis specialist subsea and pipeline engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Offshore Riser Engineer, with experience, in particular, in dynamic risers.An opportunity to assist in the leading of the company’s team of dedicated and knowledgeable Riser Engineers as part of their Subsea Engineering Group. They have a varied and interesting work across all phases of projects and this is an opportunity to join the engineering team of one of the industry’s leading consultants. You will be based in their Surrey office, from where they execute a broad portfolio of Conceptual Studies, Front End Engineering and Detailed Engineering projects, often in support of EPC projects carried out by the construction team.Role Overview - Principal Riser Engineer:Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be expected to have in-depth understanding of key engineering principles relating to flexible and deepwater risers and hands-on experience of using a variety of relevant engineering software. Aptitude for management of a small team of engineers and designers in the Subsea Engineering Group would be an advantage. The Principal Riser Engineer will be expected to oversee subsea work and participate in detailed riser analyses on projects. The incumbent will also be involved in the development and performance assessment of more junior members of the team. A hands-on approach is essential, interfacing with clients and internal customers to provide a responsive and technically robust solution to project issues.This is a Permanent Staff role.Skills and Experience required - Principal Riser Engineer:• Excellent knowledge of key engineering principles relating to designing steel catenary and flexible risers; gained over no less than 8 years.• Hands-on expertise of relevant risers software (specifically Orcaflex and Orcalay), gained over, ideally, a minimum of 5 years.• Ability to work alone, or as a leader or coordinator of a small team of talented Engineers with a spectrum of experience from Graduate to Consultant.• Ability to think innovatively, practically and pragmatically and to use general-purpose or purpose written engineering software creatively to solve unusual dynamic riser problems.• Flexible and responsive approach to achieve clients’ and internal requirements• Capable of structuring bespoke technical reports and presentations and able to clearly present to clients.• Must be a good communicator with the ability to effectively manage and collaborate with peers and clients in an often fast paced environment• Must be Degree educated in a relevant Engineering discipline.You might not have previous Principal Engineer experience.
